QB Error Code 15240 "The Update Did Not Complete Successfully"

It refers to the message that generally occurs when you are trying to update the payroll or the QB.
Some of the underlying causes of the error are displayed below:

Solution 1
  • QB Desktop will be closed and then navigate to C:\Program Files\. 64-bit users: C:\Program Files (x86)
  • Now, right-click on Int. Folder and properties tab will be selected
  • Security tab will be chosen and then Advanced button will be selected
  • You need to ensure that the owner of the folder is the User group
  • Now, go ahead and take ownership of Int. Folder if you have anything other than User group
  • Updates will be downloaded now

Solution 2

  • From the tools menu, Internet options will be verified
  • Advanced tab will be selected
  • Next, scroll down and select “SSL.2.0 and SSL3.0
  • Apply option will be clicked and press the OK button

Solution 3

  • Hit the start button and then Control Panel will be chosen
  • Now, Double-click Add or Remove Programs
  • Choose QB program and then click on Change/Remove
  • Press the Next option in the QB Installation Window
  • Repair option will be chosen in the QB Maintenance window
  • Finish tab will be clicked in the QB Maintenance Complete window and then hit the finish button

Solution 4:

  • Start button will be clicked
  • “Command” tab will be typed in the search box
  • Do no not Hit the Enter yet
  • While holding CTRL-Shift, press Enter on your keyboard
  • A dialog box will appear with a permission dialog box and Click on Yes option
  • A black box will open with a blinking cursor
  • “sfc/scannow” option will be entered and press the Enter button
  • Now, the scanning will start for System File Checker for QB Error 15240 and other system file issues
  • Now, validate the on-screen commands and see if the problem still persists or not
